Daily Routine

The middle school day begins at 8:15 am. Every middle school student begins and ends his or her day in homeroom. In the morning, homeroom teachers help students prepare for the day ahead.

Academics begin with a 75-minute literacy block (45 minutes on Fridays) followed by a 40-minute math block, during which time all middle school students are studying literacy and math respectively. Beginning at 10:50 am, students attend departmentalized classes in other subject areas. Sixth grade students have a simplified departmentalized schedule, moving with their homeroom classes to different classrooms on the same floor for different subjects.

Students return to their homerooms at 2:50 pm for ten minutes to check in with homeroom teachers and review what they need for their homework.
