AT MMFS

A competitive program concentrating on skill development and training, teamwork, leadership, fitness, and health, from the 7th through 12th grades.
Go Lightning!
MMFS coaches and Phys Ed teachers: Experts in their sports and in our students.
From the lower school to the upper school, we emphasize hard work, dedication, fun, fitness, and teamwork. Our teachers and coaches look out for the whole child, making sure they succeed emotionally and physically—on the field, on the court, and in the classroom.

Our athletics programs boasts 15 sports teams in the middle and upper schools, with varsity and junior varsity soccer, volleyball, basketball, track and field, softball, and cross country. The MMFS Lightning teams compete in Independent School Athletic League League (ISAL) and MSAL (the Middle School Athletic League).
UPPER SCHOOL ATHLETICS
Go Lightning! Teamwork and Leadership.
MMFS Lightning teams compete in the Independent School Athletic League League (ISAL). There are many ways to be involved—on the court or field, or by scoring, managing, or cheering on the sidelines. We are also proud participants in the Lead ‘Em Up leadership program, in which teams focus on building student athlete leadership and where teams honor members with the “Green Team” designation for being the most positive and supportive team members.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS
Lightning Strikes! Strength, Fitness, Skills, and Self-Improvement.
Lightning team sports are an exciting part of middle school life, grounded in the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-improvement. Seventh and eighth graders are eligible for club or league teams, which compete in the Middle School Athletic League (MSAL). Outdoor games take place at Brooklyn and Manhattan city parks, and our gymnasium is always packed with enthusiastic friends, families, and supporters of our student athletes for indoor sports.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Every body moves.
Physical education at MMFS evolves with each stage of learning. Explore how our program supports students in every division
LOWER SCHOOL
Students have Phys Ed twice a week with our highly trained teachers, who emphasize teamwork, health, skill development, fitness, and fun so students bring energy and confidence back to their classrooms. We have a gym and two outdoor play spaces for students to enjoy.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Phys Ed classes meet three times a week and stress strength, fitness, athletic skills, leadership, and teamwork in an environment designed to help kids succeed. Students get the chance to try out different sports in order to join a team or just to play for fun.
UPPER SCHOOL
Phys Ed classes meet four times per ten-day cycle and teach physical fitness, skill development, cooperation, and sportsmanship. Students expand on the fundamentals, including skills, rules, and game strategies. We provide positive experiences for students so they can make healthy and active choices.
